GTC fax-broadcast: Hints for creating an optimal layout of your fax
No colors:
Don`t use coloures for designing your fax. The receiving fax machines are not able to print your message coloured. In addition the charts may appear different when printed in black and white (e.g. green and red could be equal). By the same reason don`t use coulered paper or a coulered background. This causes shadows during broadcasting. Your customers will be pleased to receive your fax fastly, easily to read and toner saving.
Large font:
Paticularly suitable are fonts which are clear, simple and sans-serif, e.g. Arial. Type sizes lower 9 pt are difficult to read. Messages using fonts with 10 pt or higher are ideal.
Appropriate file format:
For fax broadcasting the following file formats are suitable for creation and saving your fax template: .doc, .gif, .tif, .xls, .ppt, .pdf. Further file formats upon agreement.
Photos:
Photos are restricted useful for fax broadcasting. Especially coulerd pictures change during data transmission and printing. If a photo or chart is indispensable for you, we advise you to save it in black and white without greyscales. Most suitable are light-coloured pictures. Choose a large format instead of a small one. Broadcasting with high resolution optimises the results.
Greyscales:
Many greyscales are not ideal for fax broadcasting. Please consider that the resolultion of a fax differs from a hardcopy of your general own printer. You get ideal quality of your fax by converting charts from greyscales to black and white. Broadcasting with high resolution increases refinement. With the help of the fax sample, you will be able to valuate the result easily.
Resolution:
A resolution of 300 dpi is ideal in order to receive a good fax quality of charts. A higher resolution doesn`t lead to an improvement. A precise design is not necessary, because it can not be converted by the fax at this ratio. Very high amount of data complicate the handling and is slowing down the processing of your order because of long transmission time, e.g. by the internet.
The easier the better:
Design your fax as easy as possible. This will improve the clearness of the information for your addressee. Too many elements of design draw off the attention of your general statement.

Embedding important messages in the heading:
The heading reveals at first sight the basic message. A good headline increases the attention of your recipients.
Good applications for fax broadcasting:
Fax broadcasting is an established instrument in order to promote customer loyalty, e.g. for exceptional offers, actual product information, press releases, invitations, appointment reminder, newsletter, instructions, order forms, customer surveys, statistics, invoices, introduction of new employees and so on.
Brevity is the soul of wit:
Make your statement short and concisely. Don`t use long and complex sentences. Reduce to the basics. Reveal your main statements. Please consider that a fax of 10 pages blockades the fax machine of your recipient for a long time.
Increasing the effect by choosing the right rate:
Fix express-rate:
Your messages have to be sent swiftly and reach the adressee without delay. At this point we recommend the express-rate. Your orders will be handled with the highest priority and sent out immediately.
Eye-catching day-rate:
Your customers are smaller companies, e.g. handcrafts enterprises. Or your aiming to increase the attention. At this point we recommend the day-rate. Experience has shown that office and accomodation are not seperated by open ground. Faxes sent out by night maybe wake up the recipients. By choosing the day-rate the attention value of your messages will increase. As well reachability is higher in the daytime, because many enterprises turn off their fax machines at night.
Cheap night-rate:
Your customers are medium-sized and big companies. Your faxes are expected normally. You inform them by fax regularly. We therefore recommend the cheap night-rate.
